Today I talked with your Mama.
We never reached so far
in our pleasant conversation
that your name was mentioned.

I wish I could have more courage
so I should not be so afraid
to tell your mother that I miss you.

But afterwards I wept in my solitude.
When all memories came in waves
through the dark and bitter night.

Old friend, there are always fighters
and those who happen to be in the front
are the ones who leave the field.

I remember when we, as young teenagers,
borrowed our grandpa's motorbike.
You were the skilled driver,
I just sat in front of you on the vehicle
and let the wind blow my face.

We told him we should only drive
to the other side of the bridge,
but we reached the nearest town
in a hunger of ice cream, in 1-2-3.

When we returned to his house
he only wondered where we had been.
He was worried because of our use of time
but, to our surprise, he was not angry at all.

He said that the youngsters
